Missing Assignments: Update

At this time, the missing assignments include:

Regular and PreAP classes:
  • All students should have gotten their interim average signed as a 10 point assignment. Those students who do not have it on Monday (-it was due last Friday) will have a zero recorded. Those who brought it in as directed on Friday were rewarded with 5 extra credit points.
  • All students should have recopied the rough draft of the conclusion written together in class on a sheet of notebook paper as their final copy. This was due for a grade no later than Friday. The rough draft is found on p. 13 in their interactive notebook. (I am missing 10 from the 5th period preAP class.)
PreAP classes only:
  • All students have now turned in the rough draft of their materials and procedure lists for the product testing project. However, all students were offered the option of rewriting their rough draft using my suggestions for an improved grade. Also, some students turned in unacceptable work and were directed to redo their work to receive a passing grade. It is the student's responsibility to remember to make any corrections and turn them in for a new grade.

September 27-October 1: This Week in Science

This week we will complete our study of Scientific Investigation with a unit test on Thursday, September 30. On Monday we will complete the Finding Mass (fair test) experiment. Students may need to complete the conclusion as homework Monday night. They should bring home their interactive notebook and start re-reading each page, starting with Safety (the beginning!).

On Tuesday we will focus again on Notepage #3, Fair Test Experiments, and use the LINK strategy to review and understand independent and dependent variables. This will be taped into the Interactive Notebook for review. Students should continue to re-read the content of their interactive notebooks as a method for reviewing for Thursday's unit test.

Wednesday will be spent doing an interactive review of information on the unit test. Again, students should "study" by reading and re-reading the information given to them on the pages of their interactive notebook.

Thursday we will take the unit test. Students will also be given the Outside Classroom Behavior Contract (which they wrote) for their signature, stating that they will follow our rules while working outside. I will not require parent signature on this document. If time, I will assign a garden square to each student.

Friday: Work in the gardens! (We won't complain if it rains, we'll just postpone until Monday)
