March 1-5: This Week in Science

This week we will cover Notepages #4 and #5, Phases of the Moon and Tides. An understanding of rotation and revolution should help students to grasp these concepts more easily. Please look at the animation links provided on this webpage for a graphic explanation that might help. There will be a quiz on Notepages #4 and #5 on Friday. I will also be include rotation, revolution, the cause of seasons, and some random facts about the 14 objects in our solar system on this quiz, as students will be given a cumulative unit test in several weeks. All information that will be included on any quiz or test is contained in the interactive notebook.

On another note; we are now planning our spring garden, counting the days until our harvest party and selecting seeds accordingly. See the garden website for more information.

And last, but not least, follow our classes' progress as we continue to collect money for Haiti relief. To my amazement, the donations continue to come in, and as of Thursday we had collected a total of $731.44! The students have earned incentives along the way, but I ran out of ideas past the $600 mark! Thanks for your support with this endeavor.
