Important Parent Update

Last week, students in periods one through six were assigned 2 to 3 pages per night to read in the first section of the first chapter of the science text book. In order to encourage and assess whether the students were reading each night, I assigned the corresponding workbook pages to be completed in class the following day. These were to be completed from memory to see what students retained from the text; however, students were instructed to take their workbook home each night and correct the answers they had written during class. To encourage accuracy, on Tuesday I told students these workbook pages would be turned in on Friday for a quiz grade. Again, we worked through the pages in class each day and students were assigned the opportunity to correct all answers each night. The last 3 pages of section one and the corresponding workbook questions were assigned as extra credit points for the Friday grade. These graded pages will be stapled into your child's interactive notebook on Monday, and I would encourage you to look at your child's grade. I will ask all students to bring their interactive notebook home on Monday night.
