September 8-11: This Week in Science

This week we will focus on the importance of making good scientific observations. Observations are what we use to make inferences, on which we base a hypothesis. Students will receive Notepage #2, "Inquiry Skills," and we will spend the week understanding and applying the vocabulary introduced or reviewed on this notepage. There will be no tests or quizzes this week; however, students should bring home their interactive notebooks to read and review Notepage #2 and any additional information added to the notebook. Homework assignments will be posted if they are assigned.

We will also continue to work on the Glenvar Garden this week. Last week we pulled a truck-load of wire grass out of the four raised beds. Now, before it returns, we'll plant a fall garden including cabbage plants, kale, cress, spinach, and mustard. I hope to purchase more seeds this week. We'll perform investigations based on these plantings.
